Platinum Pick: Seahawks -5.5
Seattle is at home this week for a much needed win. They let the
Ravens get back in the game last week and ultimately lost in overtime
on some very bad calls by the Ref. I didn't actually see the
calls
but I have heard enough about it to know it was wrong, and changed
the outcome of the game. Either way the Seahawks defense has been
soft and should have had that game put away. However the Browns
are a slightly easier opponent going in the opposite direction.
I expect the Seahawks offense to continue to improve as they did
last year. They should have won last week and they should win
big this week to redeem themselves. SEAHAWKS -5.5
Ravens -3
Texans -3
Chiefs -7
Rams -6
The Ravens are relentless lately and they have developed a big
heart. Not to mention a decent pass game to go with top notch
run attack led by superstar RB Jamal Lewis. The 49 ERs on the
other hand have been a complete let down. Playing down from their
potential all year, now having to deal with injuries and all kinds
of obstacles this year has been simply frustrating for WR Terrell
Owens as well as QB Jeff Garcia who should make the start this
week. If they hook up twice maybe the 49ers will score 14 points.
I have total confidence in the Ravens defense this week to come
up big this week at home after the miracle comeback win last week.
RAVENS -3
The Texans are a better team than their (4-7) record while on
the other hand the Falcons are as good as their (2-9) record.
Mike Vick may see some time this week in the second half. The
Texans should be able to move the ball with RB Dominick Davis
who has been a pleasant surprise. QB David Carr should be back
as well and I think the time off should have helped him. The Texans
are looking to get the lead early so that if Vick does get on
the field he is limited. I expect it should take some time for
Vick to feel comfortable in the pocket especially if they blitz
him effectively and he's still a little hesitant or nervous to
run with the ball. (watch out for Atlanta next week) TEXANS -3
The CHIEFS are surprisingly not as dominant their record indicates,
Although they are almost impossible to beat. They keep winning
close games. Trent Green should have a good day throwing to Tony
Gonzalez and the Chiefs should open this game up early. I don't
doubt Doug Flutie's ability to make it a fun game to watch, but
I don't expect the final score to be close. The Chiefs need to
make a statement after a few performances that were simply unparalleled
to their record. Plus they are in a home field advantage hunt
and I doubt coach Vermeil will let them lose this game. The Chargers
really SHOULD lose to the Chiefs in all three parts of the game.
CHIEFS -7
This last pick was tricky. I had to look deep into the stats even
though IM not a stats guy I like what I saw. The Vikings getting
this many points at home made me think a little extra.
The Rams are playing very good and tough football lately. They
have only been getting better. The Vikings have been playing horrible
lately and the only recent victory they've tallied was against
the Lions. I look for the Rams QB Marc Bulger to cut down on his
2.5 INT's per game and add to his TD ratio. The Rams defense is
fast enough to shut down the run game and make MOSS beat them.
Mike Marts needs to manage a good game (or not make any mistakes)
and let the defense put pressure on QB Dante Culpepper. The Rams
should be able to open this game up in the second half. RAMS -6
