Will Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens play in Superbowl XXXIX against the New England Patriots?

Philadelphia Eagles WR Terrell Owens said today that he will play in the 2005 NFL Superbowl, even though his doctor will not grant approval. Dr. Mark Meyerson is pleased with TO's recovery to this point but said the Eagles superstar wide receiver is definitely not ready for Superbowl XXXIX action. Terrell Owens doesn't care about anything except getting on the field in Jacksonville. The Eagles will face the New England Patriots who led by Coach Bill Belichick are one of the greatest teams in NFL history. The Patriots defense has proven time and time again that it can shut down any opponent and win the big game.

QB Donovan McNabb seems confident whether TO is on the field or sideline. McNabb has stated that the Eagles will keep doing what they have been doing. WR Freddie Mitchell has "stepped up" recently according to some people. Reality suggests the Eagles have been playing good, however they have also gotten very lucky along the way. My guess is that Owens wants to step on the field and feel the electricity. He wants to feel the adrenalin pumping through his blood. He wants to feel the pure excitement of the biggest game of his life. This is what most athletes chase for an entire career. He can't seriously think he will help his team in Superbowl XXXIX. Despite doctors orders TO has been practicing lightly, running & catching balls.

It simply amazes me that he is thinking about risking his career to play in one game, although it is the Superbowl.

• The Eagles only have 5 players with Superbowl experience

• The Patriots are defending back to back Superbowl Champions, although one exception is RB Corey Dillon who until this year never played in an NFL playoff game. The addition of Dillon only makes the Champion Patriots better.  

• None of the 5 Eagles players with Superbowl experience are key members of their offense which will need all the help it can get in the big game.
